Health care issues concern us all. Unfortunately those issues are exceptionally complex and difficult to understand. Indeed, as advances in technology have increased the complexity - - and improved the quality - - of health care, costs have risen dramatically, and the health care bureaucracy has expanded enormously. We all demand access to the highest quality health care, while at the same time big insurance companies and HMOs are doing everything they can to contain and control spiraling health care costs. This tension can injure the patient. Indeed, the patient frequently finds herself caught between health care networks and physicians who run their practices like businesses in order to increase profits and insurance companies and HMOs who monitor (and sometimes limit) our access to health care, and who may deny coverage (rightly or wrongly) for procedures that they deem unnecessary.
This environment is difficult and confusing. Patients and their families need to know how to find their way through the confusion and protect themselves as they seek quality health care services.
If you think you have been victimized by the health care industry, report it here.
